4. The key components of the first feed.
5. How to help moms achieve a good latch.
6. What a good latch looks like.
7. The ability to identify common problems in the first week of breastfeeding.
8. Solutions to common problems in the first week.
9. The progression of milk from colostrum to mature milk.
10. Answers to common breast feeding questions such as:
· How long till my baby sleeps through the night?
· Do I have to nurse at night?
· When can I introduce the bottle?
· When can my partner help?
· What is a growth spurt?
· When should I start pumping?
11. Use active listening skills to identify breastfeeding problems
12. Identify contraindications to breastfeeding.
13. Identify possible obstacles to breastfeeding.
14. Proper pumping and storing of breast milk
And Most importantly…..
Knowing when to refer to a Lactation consultant with more experience.
